Music Lessons

Acoustic Outfitters offers music lessons for beginning to advanced students of all ages. Learning to play an instrument is a wonderful skill that can last a lifetime! Whether you wish to play for yourself, join a group or improve your skills, working with an experienced teacher will move you closer to your own goal.

Each person has a different learning style so we customize our lessons to fit those individual differences. We offer a supportive and positive environment for learning in our home studio.

LESSON RATES :

$25 per ½ hour; $35 per 45min; $45 per 1 hour.

Lesson fees are payable directly to the teacher. Cancellations must be made with a 24 hour notice to avoid a lesson fee.

GARY FILGATE . 5-STRING BANJO, ACOUSTIC GUITAR, MANDOLIN, DOBRO.    All Levels.

Gary is a veteran banjo player of 35 years and is considered one of the top players in the Northeast. His teaching style uses  a “less is more” approach, encouraging students to recognize that space is as important as musical notes and works with students to develop both right and left hand techniques. Gary applies his talent to other fretted instruments as well, and has been actively teaching and repairing instruments for over 20 years.

ALISON MAGILL. VIOLIN, VIOLA.  Beginning to intermediate.

Alison began playing the violin at age 6 and continued her private studies throughout her college career, where she branched out from classical into jazz and blues. She played viola with the UNH Symphony Orchestra and after college, began to explore the wide and varied world of fiddle music! She directs the strings program at Tidewater Waldorf School in Eliot, ME in addition to her private students.
